Blog no 14 December 2017

A number of times this month I have been reminded that our success is all about the quality of the programme that we offer our young people.

I am lucky enough to visit many events and Groups and see the fantastic things that are happening.  The variety is tremendous, and many young people are trying things for the first time.  It is great to challenge them and give them opportunities that they don’t get in other places.  Thinking back through my Scouting life I have certainly done things that I never would have considered.

It is often difficult to maintain that quality and variety week in, week out.  Our programme is built around the concept of having a balance – not everything suits everybody, but by following it they will have fun, adventure and grow their skills for life.  Do we all deliver the best programme that we can?  When did you last review it?  On the national website there are tools that allow you to review how you are doing – why not give them a try.  https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/search/?cat=767,858

As we come up to the Christmas period it is always busy.  I will see many of you at events during the month, film shows, carol services etc.  This is always a time to reflect on the past year and to plan for a great 2018.

Many thanks for all that you do for Scouting.

Have a Happy Christmas,

Nigel

Ps.  If you get a chance go and visit Santa at Rugby Scouts Grotto. https://www.facebook.com/scoutsgrotto/
