Last month I talked about outdoor activities over the Summer. In the last month, I have visited District Camps for Rugby, West Warwickshire, Nuneaton, Leamington and Warwick Districts. They were all different in style but the common thread was the opportunities that they gave our members to try different activities. Some were traditional activities (fire and cooking) and others more contemporary (Laser tag), but for the young people they were fresh and gave them a chance to challenge themselves. I shared in the “first” experiences by tasting a mealworm with Nuneaton Cubs and driving a buggy with Rugby Scouts. Great fun!
In West Warwickshire they were holding youth forums to help shape district and section programmes for the next year – brilliant ideas were being suggested.
I have heard of lots of summer expeditions coming up. These range for Lake Bala in Wales, to Denmark, Poacher in Lincolnshire, to local weekend – I am sure that everyone will be an adventure that people will look back on. We are also delighted to be welcoming our Scout friends from Anguilla and St Kitts and Nevis in July – a return trip following Warwickshire’s in 2015. Let us know if you’d like to come and visit them – staying at Hatton Campsite.
Thanks to all that have organised (or are organising) and helped to deliver these events.
