New Young People First (Yellow) Card

As from 1st March the Scout Association has launched a revised version of Young People First (commonly known as the Yellow Card). A new version of the Orange Card is also available for Young Leaders.

Please note that there are no rule changes, but the code of behaviour is more succinct and placed a greater emphasis on the shared responsibility we must report all concerns.  By doing this we create a more open and transparent culture within the Movement where young people feel safe and parents feel confident in sending their children to Scouts.

New cards will be distributed with Scouting Magazine from the 28th March, however, if you don’t receive a printed copy of Scouting, or share your copy in a household you will need to obtain a copy of the card from your line manager.  If you have any problems accessing the new card, please contact the Safeguarding Awareness Coordinator.

Once you have received your new card, please take the time to look at the card, and discuss with other members of your leadership team.  If you have any questions about the content or would like a refresher on the content please contact Neil Horbury, Safeguarding Awareness Coordinator – safeguarding@warwickshirescouts.org.uk

Warwickshire Scouts Sailing Dinghies will again be based at Draycote Water Sailing Club, near Rugby. The aim is to make it easier for members to take part in an Adventurous Activity.
We now have three boats, although we’ll probably only use two for most sessions. (We can use all three for larger groups, if I can find an additional helmsman).  Each boat will take an instructor plus three Cubs / Scouts or two Explorers – depending on size!

Boats will be available on Saturdays from the beginning of May to the end of September – See County Calendar for available dates.

Warwick District Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Explorers are celebrating St George’s Day at Warwick Race Course on Sunday 22nd April at 9.30 a.m.
Following this event, all the Youth Organisations in Warwick have been invited to take part in the Mayor’s Youth Charity Sponsored Walk – there is a 5km and a 10 km route with specific adaptations for younger children and anyone who is less mobile.
Individuals can raise their own sponsorship for their own group or a special project.
Entry Fee is £5 per head, to go into the Mayor’s Youth Charity Fund – all profits will be made available for Youth Organisations to bid for a share, in addition to their own fund raising.
Because of the large numbers expected, Groups will be given a specific start time – both routes start and finish at the Race Course.
Warwick District Scouts are working closely with the Mayor to organise this event, with First Aid provision, toilets and water points around both courses, and marshals supplied by other local organisations.
All enquiries should be made to civicadmin@warwicktowncouncil.org.uk
