Phoenix, Kenilworth ESU attended the national Sedan Chair Rally competition for Explorer Scouts at Tolmers camp site over the weekend of 19/20/21 October.
The competition involves building a sedan chair and making costumes on a selected them, and then racing the chair (with a rider) around a tough course, that includes 5 incidents or extra activities that need to be completed on the way.
Phoenix first attended the Sedan Chair rally in 2006, and came a creditable 17th overall, and managed to get a 2nd place certificate in one of the categories.
In 2007 they put the experience gained from 2006 to good use, and did a little better, coming back with :
• First Place in Best Designed and Constructed Chair.
• First Place in Most Topical Chair
• Second Place in Best Dressed Team
• Third Place in Best Finishing Chair
• And were the Overall Event Winners !
