Risk Assessment

We all carry out informal risk assessments, from the time we get up each day, until we go to bed.

We assess risk often without even realising it.

A risk assessment is no more than using common sense, however using a structured approach means that we do not take the process for granted.

Whatever the activity therefore, it is essential that Leaders carry out a risk assessment.

Five Steps to Risk Assessment

1. Look for the hazards
2. Decide who might be harmed and how
3. Evaluate the risks, decide whether existing precautions are adequate or whether more should be done
4. Record your findings
5. Review your assessment and revise if necessary
