Adult Support

Safeguarding Young People

This is the "Yellow Card " which carries a quick reference guide for ALL our adults to the Guidelines on the Scout Association's Child Protection Policy.

The card is given to every adult member when they join the association and they are given further training throughout their voluntary time spent with our Young People. The fourth edition, which now incorprates 'neglect' is due to be distributed with the August/September issue of Scouting magazine, along with an article highlighting the change.

Updated Child Protection Policy

The January 2010 edition of POR includes a number of changes to the Child Protection Policy in areas such as the use of alcohol on Scouting activities* and the creation of the Safeguarding Awareness Coordinator role (that’s me!)

Safeguarding training at appointment review

The new edition of POR contains a requirement for all those subject to an appointment review to have completed safeguarding training within the period of the appointment. Please ask your training manager to book me in to deliver the training to you locally!

Keeping Children Safe – online

This training package is now available online for just £4 (plus VAT) and can be used as an alternative to receiving the safeguarding training.

ThinkUKnow training

I am trained to deliver these materials to scouts (and leaders to raise awareness). Over 3,000 young people in Scouting have now completed ThinkUKnow.

Please do make contact with me!
