Warwickshire Active Support
What is Warwickshire County Scout Active Support?
Scout Active Support is an opportunity for adults to volunteer time to provide support to Scouting in Warwickshire County. As an adult you can volunteer time to County Scouting in a way that is flexible and suits you. Groups of people who join together to provide support are known as Active Support Units. Units provide a resource pool for managers of local Scouting to use as appropriate. The ways that County Scout Active Support can aid Warwickshire are almost endless.
Who can join Warwickshire County Scout Active Support? Scout Active Support welcomes men & women aged 18 and over of all interests, abilities and backgrounds. There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting or Guiding before. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting. To be a member of a Scout Active Support Unit you must become a member or associate member of The Scout Association.
Being part of a Warwickshire County Active Support Unit Membership of Active Support unit is flexible; if you want to be involved in Scouting and benefit from opportunities for flexible volunteering then Active Support can take up as much or as little time as you are able to give.
The County Scout Active Support Manager is responsible for the management, leadership and day to day running of the Units. Tony Guy has been appointed to this role. He works with the County Commissioner and members to write a service agreement which documents what the Active Support Unit will do. This will be reviewed annually to ensure that the Unit is able to achieve what it has agreed.
The County Active Support Coordinator assists the County Active Support Manager. In Warwickshire the Coordinator will manage the administration of the County Units. This includes membership applications and CRB requirements for Unit members.
The Structure of Warwickshire Scout Active Support.
The Active Support volunteers can join one or more units. As the scheme is launched through 2010 it is proposed to initially establish up to 6 County Scout Active Support Units:-

What is a service agreement?
Each Active Support Unit decides how they will support Scouting in Warwickshire. This will be documented in a Service Agreement and agreed between the County Commissioner, Unit Manager and Unit Members. Every Scout Active Support Unit must have a Service Agreement describing its role in providing support to Scouting in Warwickshire. Agreements are reviewed and amended subject to the support needs being met
